Museum and Strathearn Historical Park in Simi Valley

Museum and Strathearn Historical Park in Simi Valley

It is located at 137 Strathearn Place, Simi Valley (off Tierra Rejada Road, just east of Madera). In partnership with the Simi Valley Historical Society, Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District operates the park.

It is home to many historical artifacts and structures from the Simi Valley area. A name for the Park has been given to it in honor of Robert P. Lamb and Mary Gray Lamb Strathearn. From Scotland, they bought 15000 acres of the Simi Adobe and built their Victorian-style farmhouse.

Stroll through history at the site, including the Saint Rose of Lima Church from 1902, the Simi Adobe, Strathearn House, Pioneer House (first historic building to be relocated to Strathearn Park), Simi Library (built in 1930 and closed in 1962), original Wood Ranch barns, the Simi Store gift shop, the Banaga Barbershop and more.

Opening hours are generally 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There are three-hour docent-led tours within the buildings on Fridays and Saturdays/Sundays at 1pm and 1:30pm, both for $3. Visitor Centers and park grounds are open to self-guided tours.

Tour of Strathearn Historical Park

Free tours are available during Strathearn Park's open hours of 9am-3pm on weekdays and 1pm-4pm on weekends.

In this six-acre park you will find the Simi Valley Historical Society as well as Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District. Our park contains a number of historic structures. A Simi Adobe is the oldest structure still standing in the town. In addition to the Strathearn House and the original St. Rose of Lima Church, the park also contains two Colony houses, a barbershop, two wood ranch barns, and a Currier Apricot Pitting Shed. Also on site is California Historic Landmark Number 979, El Rancho Simi.

You will visit twenty stops throughout Strathearn Park on this audio tour. Approximately three minutes pass between each stop. The best way to go about visiting the stops is to go in order, though this is not necessary. Enjoy your tour!
